CEREC Crowns

Why are CEREC Crowns Called “Same Day Crowns”?

This state-of-the-art technology allows Dr. Brad Greenfield to take accurate images of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and place a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single visit. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and offers unparalleled convenience, value, and precision to our patients.

How Does CEREC Technology Work?

The CEREC production process consists of three basic steps. First, Dr. Greenfield using 3D imaging to take highly accurate pictures of your tooth and the surrounding structures. Next, he downloads these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, designs your custom-fitted crown. From there, Dr. Greenfield sends the design to our in-office precision milling machine which creates the crown out of a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once we stain and glaze the crown for added strength and esthetics, Dr. Greenfield will place it on your tooth.

What are the Advantages of CEREC Crowns?

  • We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to create our CEREC crowns. These metal-free restorations offer incomparable strength, durability, chip and stain resistance, and natural beauty.
  • Precision-fitted CEREC crowns require less tooth preparation and preserve more of your tooth structure.
  • Traditional crowns require two office visits. With CEREC, you can come into our Lake Orion dentist’s office for an appointment and leave with a beautifully restored tooth.
  • You can avoid the inconvenience and potential risks associated with ill-fitting temporary crowns.
